معرفی
Dr. Adam Wilkinson is an Associate Professor of Stem Cell Biology at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the MRC Molecular Haematology Unit within the Radcliffe Department of Medicine. He holds the KKLF Intermediate Research Fellow title and leads the Wilkinson Group focused on blood stem cell research.
After earning his MBiochem from Oxford and a PhD from the University of Cambridge, he conducted postdoctoral research in Japan (University of Tokyo) and the U.S. (Stanford University). He served as an NIH-funded Instructor at Stanford’s Stem Cell Institute before joining Oxford in 2021.
His research centers on hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) biology, particularly ex vivo culture technologies to enhance clinical applications like bone marrow transplantation. Key interests include HSC expansion selectivity, genetic manipulation (e.g., CRISPR-Cas9), and translational therapies for blood disorders such as sickle cell disease.
Recent publications highlight advancements in HSC expansion protocols (e.g., cytokine-free systems, polyvinyl alcohol-based cultures) and mechanistic insights into HSC self-renewal. His work also addresses challenges in gene editing efficiency and genetic heterogeneity in stem cells.
