معرفی
Adam Smith is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Puget Sound. His research bridges machine learning and computational biology, focusing on algorithmic solutions for biological problems. He holds a BA from Lewis Clark College (1999), an MS (2002) and PhD (2009) from the University of Wisconsin Madison.
Research Focus: Smith develops machine learning methods for biological time-series analysis, including gene expression patterns and mouse ultrasonic vocalization. His work aims to establish behavioral baselines for mental disease models (autism, schizophrenia, traumatic brain injury) and has applications in toxicology and industrial chemical analysis.
Teaching:
- Intro to Computer Science (CSCI 161-A)
- Problem Seminar (CSCI 295-A)
- Computer Graphics (CSCI 315-A)
