معرفی
Dr. Adam Gammon-Smith is an Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham's School of Physics and Astronomy, focusing on non-equilibrium quantum dynamics, topologically ordered systems, and quantum computing applications. He leads the Condensed Matter Theory group and recently secured an ERC Starting Grant to expand his research team.
- PhD: University of Cambridge (2018), thesis on 'Disorder-free Localization'
- MASt: University of Cambridge (2015)
- BSc/MMath: University of Leeds (2014)
His research explores quantum quenches in lattice models, leveraging IBM quantum computers and machine learning tools to study many-body systems. Key areas include topological quantum computing, sign problems in Monte Carlo methods, and disorder-free localization, with recent work on simulating (2+1)D lattice gauge theories and entanglement transitions.
His 15 most recent articles (2021-2025) span quantum simulation of topological systems, non-equilibrium dynamics, and machine learning applications in condensed matter. Notable collaborations include Samsung and Imperial College London.
- ERC Starting Grant (current)
- Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 Fellowship (2020-2021)
As of 2025, his group includes postdocs Konstantinos Sfairopoulos, Jared Jeyaretnam, George Bakewell-Smith, George McArdle, and Arash Jafarizadeh, alongside PhD students Anna Dalmasso, Caitlin Lewis, and Molly Gibbins. He previously collaborated with Prof. Frank Pollmann (TUM), Prof. Myungshik Kim (Imperial), and Dr. Johannes Knolle.
