Adam Roberts is a Professor of Nineteenth Century Literature and Head of the Department of English at Royal Holloway, University of London. He holds a PhD from Cambridge University and has been at Royal Holloway since 1991. His academic work focuses on 19th-century literature, literary theory, and creative writing. Roberts is also a prolific author, having published twelve science fiction novels, parodies, and short stories, blending academic rigor with imaginative fiction. His research explores intersections between historical literary contexts and contemporary narrative forms.
Education: MA (English and Classics) from Aberdeen University; PhD (Robert Browning and the Classics) from Cambridge University.
Research Interests: 19th-century literature, creative writing pedagogy, 17th/18th-century cultural studies, and interdisciplinary literary theory.
Recent Projects: Led the Leverhulme Trust-funded project 'Latin’s Coleridge,' examining intersections of classical influences in Romantic literature. Supervises PhDs in both traditional literary analysis and creative writing.
