Adam Pisarek's research interests include anthropological theories of culture, the history of theoretical-cultural thought, anthropology of nature, cultural landscapes, and hospitality. He explores how abstract concepts like hospitality are concretized through everyday practices and how visual culture—especially photography—mediates memory and identity. His work bridges theoretical reflection with ethnographic and archival research.
His recent publications span topics such as the ontology of human-nature relations, museum exhibitions as laboratories of change, and the cultural narratives of travel. These works reflect a strong engagement with contemporary cultural theory, visual studies, and anthropological epistemology. He frequently collaborates on interdisciplinary projects involving art, heritage, and education.
Scientific awards and recognition include:
- Awarded in the 'Golden Cubes' competition for architectural education
- Nominated for the 'Śląska Rzecz' competition
Pisarek has been involved in significant research grants, including as project manager for 'Observers and carers? Styles of learning and changing nature in the Narew National Park in the time of climate crisis' (National Science Center, 2020–2021). He also participated in projects on humanistic laboratories and Zofia Rydet’s photographic experiment. He supervises student-led initiatives that produce podcasts and exhibitions, emphasizing experiential and public scholarship.
He serves as curator for the educational exhibition 'On the trail of Tomek' at the Silesian Museum in Katowice (2017–2022) and is editor-in-chief of the journal Laboratorium Kultury. His academic engagement combines theoretical rigor with public-facing cultural interpretation.
