Adam Oliver Brown is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Ottawa, with cross-appointments in the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Education. He holds a PhD from Laval University and specializes in Science Education and Science Communication, particularly focusing on bilingual learning environments. His research explores innovative teaching methods, including etymological approaches to scientific terminology, exemplification strategies, and the integration of arts into STEM education.
Dr. Brown teaches courses such as Animal Behaviour, Public Communication of Science, and Ecology. He has produced documentaries and educational videos to enhance science communication, blending pedagogy with creative media. His work emphasizes critical thinking, evidence-based communication, and the adaptive value of biological behaviors.
Key achievements include being a National Finalist for the Nature Inspiration Award and having his 2016 paper shortlisted for Research Worth Reading by the National Science Teachers’ Association. He actively collaborates with colleagues on projects examining pollination ecology and the role of biodiversity in agro-ecosystems.
