Adam K. Matz

Adam K. Matz is an Associate Professor & Graduate Director of Criminal Justice at the University of North Dakota (UND), specializing in community corrections, risk assessment, and interagency justice collaborations. He previously held research roles at the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA), Council of State Governments (CSG), and Kentucky Court of Justice's Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC).

• Education: Ph.D. in Criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), MA & BA from Eastern Kentucky University (EKU)

Research Focus: His work examines probation/parole partnerships with police, recidivism factors, youth mentoring for children of incarcerated parents, risk assessment validity, occupational culture stressors, and interagency information sharing. Publications appear in Criminal Justice and Behavior, Journal of Criminal Justice Education, and Crime & Delinquency.

Professional Leadership: Former Chair of ACJS Corrections Section and Vice-Chair of the DOJ's Global Standards Council. His teaching expertise includes research methods, evidence-based correctional practices, and policy administration.
