Adam French

Adam French is Associate Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at South Dakota Mines, specializing in severe weather phenomena and atmospheric modeling. His research examines thunderstorm organization, terrain-weather interactions, and forecasting improvements.

Teaching responsibilities include Fundamentals of Weather Analysis, Atmospheric Dynamics, Radar Meteorology, and Synoptic Meteorology. Research employs observational analysis and numerical modeling to understand convective storm behavior in complex terrain. Recent publications investigate tornadic supercells, hailstorm forecasting, wildfire smoke impacts, and snow squall classification.
