معرفی
Adam Forte is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geology & Geophysics at Louisiana State University (LSU), within the College of Science. His research integrates geomorphology, structural geology, and stratigraphy to explore active tectonics and topography development. He leads the Surface Processes and Active Tectonics (SPAT) Group, focusing on numerical modeling, fieldwork, and geo-thermochronometry to study landscape evolution and tectonic interactions.
Education: B.S. in Geology from William & Mary, Ph.D. in Geology from the University of California, Davis.
Research interests include the interplay of tectonics, climate, lithology, and surface processes in shaping topography. Notable projects investigate the Greater Caucasus Mountains, Kura Basin, and Himalayas, emphasizing sediment provenance, erosion rates, and seismic cycle impacts. His work bridges field data with computational models, advancing understanding of orogeny and landscape transience.
SPAT Group activities involve diverse members (PhD, MS, postdocs) funded by NSF grants (e.g., EAR-2237437, EAR-1917695). Recent studies address divide mobility, runoff variability effects, and detrital zircon records. The group prioritizes inclusive research environments, adhering to a code of conduct.
Publications span over 50 peer-reviewed articles, focusing on topics like landscape evolution models, climate-tectonic coupling, and tectonic geomorphology. Ongoing projects include NSF-funded investigations of seismic cycle preservation in topography and Martian paleohydrology.
