Adam Epstein is a Professor of Business Law at Carnegie Mellon University's College of Business, specializing in Sports Law, Contract Law, and Legal Education. He teaches courses such as Legal Environment of Business, Law of Agreements, and Sports Law. Epstein holds the Jerry & Felicia Campell Endowed Professorship (2022) and serves as Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) for CMU since 2019. He has published over 70 articles in law journals, focusing on athlete rights, NCAA compliance, and legal pedagogy.
Epstein has received numerous awards, including the CMU President's Award for Research (2018), multiple AT&T Teaching Excellence Awards, and the SRLA's Betty van der Smissen Leadership Award (2016). He co-authored the Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport's 'Best Article' (2017) and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Legal Studies Education (2019-2020).
His work bridges sports, law, and ethics, with research on NIL rights, Title IX compliance, and pandemic impacts on sports. Epstein is an active member of the American Bar Association, SRLA, and Sports Lawyers Association, contributing to editorial boards and policy discussions.
Teaching innovations like 'The Trading Card Effect' have been recognized for enhancing student learning. His research frequently addresses NCAA policies, athlete labor rights, and legal frameworks for youth sports.
