Matthew Banker is an Adjunct Professor of Law with over 20 years of experience in college athletics administration. He has held roles at the NCAA national office, NCAA Eligibility Center, Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), and University of Louisville Athletics Department. His expertise includes NCAA compliance, NIL program management, legal advising for athletics, and legislative advocacy. He currently serves as a full-time consultant for colleges, high schools, and sports organizations, focusing on recruiting, NIL, eligibility, and career guidance. He is also Senior Advisor to the Church, Church Hittle & Antrim Law Firm's Sports Law Group.
- Education: Bachelor of Arts from University of St. Thomas; J.D. from Marquette University.
Research interests center on legal frameworks governing collegiate athletics, including compliance, governance, and student-athlete rights. He teaches NCAA compliance and governance courses at Belmont University and University of Louisville. His consulting work emphasizes bridging legal standards with practical operational challenges in sports administration.
Notably, he has led Division I NIL programs and chaired the NCAA Division I Legislative Council. His advisory work spans universities, conferences, and student-athletes, reflecting a career deeply rooted in institutional and regulatory challenges in sports.
