Adam Carter is an Assistant Professor and Ministry of Agriculture Strategic Research Program (SRP) Chair in CWRS Wheat, Specialty Wheats, and Canaryseed Breeding and Genetics at the University of Saskatchewan's College of Agriculture and Bioresources. He is affiliated with the Department of Plant Sciences and the Crop Development Centre. His research focuses on plant genetics, crop improvement, and breeding strategies for cereal crops under environmental stress conditions.
Dr. Carter holds a Ph.D. from the University of Saskatchewan, an M.Sc. from the University of Guelph, and a B.Sc. from the University of Manitoba. His work addresses challenges such as waterlogging tolerance in barley, soybean isoflavone concentration under stress, and wheat quality improvement.
Key research themes include genotype-environment interactions, abiotic stress tolerance, seed quality, and genetic tools for crop resilience. His recent articles explore waterlogging responses in barley, soybean isoflavone genetics, and environmental impacts on crop yields.
Laboratory and field-based studies form the core of his research, supported by collaborations within the Crop Development Centre. His research aims to enhance agricultural productivity through genetic innovation and adaptive breeding practices.
