Adam Bavier

Adam Bavier serves as an Instructor in the Outdoor Recreation Industry Studies program at Colorado Mesa University, where he teaches outdoor leadership, risk management, facilitation, and technical skills through field-based experiential learning to prepare students for careers as guides, instructors, and interpreters.

His academic credentials include:

• Master of Science in Science Education from Montana State University
• Bachelor of Science in Plant Biology from Rutgers University

Mr. Bavier's research integrates outdoor education philosophy with practical application, focusing on behavioral first response systems, identity exploration through recreational activities, and frameworks for communicating risk tolerance in expedition settings. His work emphasizes developing students' leadership capabilities through real-world field experiences and theoretical foundations.

With extensive field operations background, he led seven years of scientific expeditions in Yellowstone National Park collecting wildlife data with student groups, guided rock climbing trips in Joshua Tree National Park through the Mt. Rainier Institute, and established the Environmental and Adventure Education program at EUREKA! Science Museum in 2020 before transitioning to full-time faculty at Colorado Mesa University in 2022.
