Adam Baker is a Senior Lecturer in Sport at the University of Derby, affiliated with the School of Sport and Exercise Science within the College of Science and Engineering. As a Chartered Physiotherapist, he specializes in Sports Injury Rehabilitation, Prehabilitation, and Performance Enhancement. His professional experience includes roles with elite athletes, such as those in the English Golf Union, British Orienteering Foundation, and Barnsley Football Club. He holds a BSc (First Class Honours) in Physiotherapy from Sheffield Hallam University (2006) and an MSc in Sport Coaching from Derby University (2017).
His research focuses on Physiotherapy preceptorships, movement screening, functional stability, and the application of compression garments in exercise. He led the development of the BSc (H) Sport Therapy and Rehabilitation program at Derby University (2016–2020) and contributed to a collaborative project launching a Preceptorship program for new graduate physiotherists. He currently serves as an External Examiner at Leeds Beckett University and the University of Lincoln.
His teaching includes module leadership in Musculoskeletal Anatomy and Therapeutic Principles at undergraduate levels. Professional memberships include the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, Health and Care Professions Council, and the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
