Ada Kuskowski is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Pennsylvania. She serves as a Wolf Humanities Center Penn Faculty Fellow for the 2025—2026 academic year, contributing to the Forum on Truth.
- Focuses on cultural histories of legal knowledge in France and the Mediterranean during the Middle Ages
- Author of Vernacular Law: Writing and the Reinvention of Customary Law in Medieval France (Cambridge, 2023)
- Current projects: Laws of Conquest: Crusader States in European Legal History and Legal Truth: A History of Law and Uncertainty
Her research examines transformations in customary law, legal truth-making, and intellectual processes in medieval Europe, integrating law and literature, court culture, and material cultures of conquest.
