Achim Bornhöft

Achim Bornhöft is a University Professor for Composition (Electroacoustic Composition) at Mozarteum University Salzburg, where he has directed the Studio for Electronic Music (SEM) since 2006 and the Institute for New Music (INM) since 2015. He studied composition at Folkwang University of the Arts with Nicolaus A. Huber and Dirk Reith, habilitated in 2012, and has held teaching positions at the University of Duisburg and Folkwang University of Music and Performing Arts.

His research and creative work spans electroacoustic composition, electronic music, and choreographic stage productions, including full-length dance works like 'Lumen B' and 'Thin as Pain.' His compositions have been performed at major festivals such as Donaueschinger Musiktage, Daegu International Musical Festival, and Klangspuren Schwaz, with concert tours across Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Ukraine.

Bornhöft co-founded the music publishing company SUMTONE and has collaborated extensively with choreographers like Olimpia Scardi and Stefan Hilterhaus. His work bridges interdisciplinary art forms, integrating sculpture, electronic media, and live performance.
