Dr. Abu Bockarie serves as Associate Professor and Subject Area Chair for Adult Education & Community Engagement and Human Resource Development within the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina, a position held since 2004 after advancing from Assistant Professor (1998-2004). His academic career spans over 25 years with prior appointments at Simon Fraser University, University of British Columbia, and Sierra Leonean institutions.
His academic credentials include:

Dr. Bockarie's research examines critical intersections between education systems and workforce development, with current SSHRC-funded projects analyzing productivity impacts of training initiatives and education's role in regional social cohesion. His methodological approach combines policy analysis with community-engaged research, particularly focusing on Saskatchewan's labor market dynamics and vocational training ecosystems.
As an active supervisor, he mentors five MEd thesis students, one MEd project student, and four undergraduate practicum students while serving on multiple graduate committees. His research program is sustained through significant SSHRC funding including two major transdisciplinary projects and a developmental grant for workplace training research. Dr. Bockarie contributes extensively to institutional governance through Faculty standing committees and the Centre for International Teacher Education Board.
