Professor Abraham Kribus is a faculty member at the School of Mechanical Engineering at Tel Aviv University, where he has been since 2001. He previously served as head of the Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer Department and as head of the M.Sc. program at the Porter School of Environmental Studies. Professor Kribus also held guest professor positions at Johns Hopkins University (2001) and CNRS-PROMES institute in France (2014).
Professor Kribus received his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Tel Aviv University and his Ph.D. from Cornell University (1991), also in Mechanical Engineering. Following his doctoral studies, he completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Weizmann Institute in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Energy Research.
Professor Kribus's research focuses on renewable energy systems, particularly solar energy conversion through thermal, photovoltaic, and thermionic processes. His work encompasses solar concentrators, thermodynamics, heat transfer in energy conversion processes, and energy storage solutions. His research has significant implications for advancing sustainable energy technologies and improving energy efficiency in various applications.
He has served as chairperson and committee member for numerous international conferences and as Associate Editor for leading international journals in his field. Professor Kribus was also chairperson and board member of the Israel Sustainable Energy Society (ISES), demonstrating his commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions.
Professor Kribus has consulted for numerous companies in Israel and abroad, co-founded an Israeli startup company in 2005, and served as Chief Technologist for a solar energy startup in California in 2009. His industry experience complements his academic work, allowing him to bridge theoretical research with practical applications in the energy sector.
With over 200 journal and conference publications and several patents to his name, Professor Kribus has made significant contributions to the field of renewable energy and thermal science. His work continues to influence both academic research and industry practices in energy conversion technologies.
