Abigail Killeen is a Professor of Theater at Bowdoin College, specializing in performance, directing, and pedagogy. She is known for her work in redefining theatrical narratives and advancing women’s leadership in theater. Her notable achievement includes spearheading the Off-Broadway adaptation of Babette’s Feast, which garnered critical acclaim and awards recognition. She is a member of Compagnia de’ Colombari, collaborating on transnational adaptations of Shakespeare and other literary works. Killeen teaches courses in acting and playwriting and actively contributes to Maine’s theater scene through collaborations with Portland Stage, Good Theater, and others. She also bridges theater and on-camera performance through workshops and presentations.

Research Interests: Killeen’s work emphasizes inclusivity in acting education, gender equity in theater leadership, and the intersection of performance theory and practice. She explores Stanislavsky’s Active Analysis methodology and collaborates with Bowdoin colleagues to integrate practical and theoretical approaches to theater training.
