Dr. Abid Siraj, PhD, is a researcher and academic coordinator/director specializing in public health, sexual and reproductive health rights, and gender studies in India. He has been affiliated with the School for International Training (SIT Study Abroad) since 2011, serving initially as Academic Coordinator and later as Academic Director for their Public Health, Gender, and Sexuality program in India. His work spans teaching, advocacy, and program management, including roles in USAID-funded projects and India’s National Rural Health Mission.

His research focuses on sexual and reproductive health rights, health systems, and family planning, with a strong emphasis on equity, community engagement, and policy analysis in rural-urban contexts. His publications highlight India’s shifting paradigms in population control and the impact of international frameworks like ICPD-1994 on national programs.
Notable achievements include designing an emergency helpline for maternal health adopted by multiple Indian states and securing a Silver Medal in Social Sciences at Sodha Sikhar. He has collaborated with district/state governments and community volunteers to improve health outcomes.
