Abi Pfaff serves as a Postdoctoral Scientist and Lecturer at the Personalised Medicine Centre within Murdoch University's Health Futures Institute, specializing in genomic analysis of neurodegenerative disorders including Parkinson's disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Her research centers on Neurodegenerative Diseases and Genomics, employing RNA Sequencing and Whole Genome Sequencing to investigate structural variants and retrotransposon insertions in Non-coding DNA. As a key contributor to Project MinE working group 6, she collaborates internationally to evaluate non-coding DNA's role in motor neuron disease progression, with particular emphasis on Parkinson's disease mechanisms and ALS pathophysiology.
Dr. Pfaff maintains active affiliation with Murdoch University's Personalised Medicine Centre following prior work at the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Innovative Therapeutics. Her current research integrates advanced sequencing methodologies within the Health Futures Institute framework to advance understanding of retrotransposon impacts on neurodegenerative disease trajectories.
