Abi Paytoe Gbayee

Abi Paytoe Gbayee is an Assistant Professor of Art Education at the School of Art and Design, University of Northern Colorado. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum Studies, an M.A. in Educational Leadership, and a B.A. in Art Education from the University of Wyoming.

Gbayee specializes in Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB), focusing on the role of teachers in TAB frameworks and the continuum of choice in art education. Her research bridges curriculum theory with practical applications in K-12 settings.

Her recent publications include a 2023 doctoral dissertation on TAB historiography and a 2023 interview exploring unconventional art media. Earlier works from 2016 and 2013 address technology integration and literacy in art classrooms, respectively.

Gbayee has served as a guest instructor at the University of Alaska Anchorage and supervised student teachers at the University of Wyoming. She co-hosts the TAB Storytellers podcast and has delivered keynote presentations, including the [re]TAB keynote at the TAB Colorado Conference (2023).
