Abdullahi Boru Halakhe serves as an Adjunct Professor at the African Studies Program (AFSP) within the School of Foreign Service (SFS) at Georgetown University. Concurrently, he holds the position of senior advocate for East and Southern Africa at Refugees International, leveraging over a decade of professional expertise in security, conflict resolution, human rights, and refugee advocacy across the African continent.
He earned a Master's degree in International Security Policy from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), establishing his academic foundation in global security frameworks.
Halakhe's research critically examines African security dynamics, governance structures, and human rights implementation, with particular emphasis on East and Southern Africa. His work bridges academic analysis and policy advocacy through frequent contributions to international media platforms including Al Jazeera, Reuters, BBC World Service, and The Guardian, alongside scholarly publications such as his book chapter in the Oxford Handbook of Kenyan Politics analyzing Kenya’s security agencies and their role in the Somalia conflict.
