Abdullah Al Maruf

Abdullah Al Maruf is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, Department of Psychiatry. He is an internationally-trained pharmacist with a Ph.D. in Pharmacology & Toxicology from the University of Toronto (2014).

Dr. Maruf's work focuses on pharmacogenomics, precision pharmacotherapy, and adverse drug reactions. His research spans translational pharmacotherapy, population therapeutics, health outcomes, and pharmacovigilance. He also contributes to scholarship in teaching and learning.

Key Contributions

Dr. Maruf developed pharmacogenetic research facilities in Bangladesh, published the first paper on drug-metabolizing enzyme polymorphisms in the Bangladeshi population during his M.Pharm, and played a pivotal role in launching Canada’s first pharmacogenetic testing service in Western Canada to improve mental health drug treatment outcomes.
