Dr. Abdullah Al Arif serves as a Lecturer at Macquarie Law School, Macquarie University, specializing in ocean governance and the law of the sea. His academic journey includes a PhD in Law from Macquarie University (2019), LLB and LLM from Dhaka University, and an LLM from South Asian University where he earned the University Gold Medal. He completed a JSPS-funded postdoctoral fellowship at Yokohama City University (2021-2023) and maintains affiliations with the IUCN's World Commission on Environmental Law and the Asian Society of International Law.
His research focuses on marine fisheries management, continental shelf rights, and international maritime law, particularly regarding Bangladesh and the Bay of Bengal. Key areas include sustainable development law, maritime boundary delimitation, and ocean governance frameworks. His fingerprint analysis reveals strong concentrations in Marine Fishery (100%), Bangladesh studies (100%), Fisheries Management (84%), and International Law (80%).
Recent publications demonstrate evolving focus from foundational maritime boundary issues toward contemporary challenges like autonomous fishing vessels and sustainable development goal integration in legal education. His 2024-2025 work shows increased emphasis on practical legal frameworks for emerging technologies and curriculum development.
