Abdessadek Lachgar is a Professor in the Chemistry Department at Wake Forest University. He holds affiliations with Salem Hall and has held visiting positions at institutions including Japan's National Institute for Research on Inorganic Materials and France's CNRS-IMN. His research focuses on designing multifunctional materials for applications in energy storage, environmental remediation, and catalysis. Key projects include Cluster-based Metal Organic Materials (CMOMs), Hybrid organic-inorganic phosphates, and biodiesel catalysts derived from natural products.
Education: B.S. and Ph.D. in Materials Science from University of Nantes (France), followed by postdoctoral work at DOE Ames Laboratory and roles as Research Associate-Instructor at University of Washington. Notable awards include the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Award (1997) and Wake Forest's Ranlet S. Bell Faculty Fellowship (2009-2012).
Research emphasizes molecular building block approaches to synthesize materials with tailored properties. Recent work explores nanorod assembly, hydrogen-bonded frameworks, and electrocatalysts for CO₂ reduction. His publications span cluster chemistry, supramolecular assembly, and sustainable catalytic processes.
Awards highlight contributions to entrepreneurship in science and materials innovation. Current activities include developing phosphorene-modified electrodes for energy storage and eco-friendly biodiesel production from waste materials.
