Abdel Halim Boudoukha is a Full Professor of Clinical Psychology and Psychopathology at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Nantes, where he has been employed since 2007, first as an Assistant Professor (2007-2016) and then as a Full Professor (2016-present). He is affiliated with the Psychology Laboratory of the Pays de la Loire (LPPL - UPRES EA 4638), where he conducts research on the psychological impact of life events, particularly traumatic experiences.
His educational background includes a Doctorate in Psychology from University Lille 3 Charles de Gaulle (2006) with research on burnout and post-traumatic stress in prison professionals, a DEA in Clinical and Pathological Psychology (2002), and a DESS in Normal and Pathological Psychology with training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (2000). He obtained his Habilitation to Direct Research (HDR) from the University of Nantes in 2012 on 'Clinical and Psychopathology of Life Events: Vulnerabilities and Psychotherapy.'
Professor Boudoukha's research primarily focuses on the psychological consequences of traumatic events, including burnout, PTSD, and more recently, eco-anxiety. His work examines how life experiences shape mental health outcomes and the mechanisms through which traumatic events lead to psychopathology. His recent publications (2023-2025) show a strong emphasis on developing measurement tools for eco-anxiety and understanding its relationship with environmental affect traits, connectedness to nature, and general mental health.
His extensive publication record includes over 135 works with more than 60,000 reads and 844 citations, spanning journal articles, books, book chapters, and conference presentations. His most significant contributions appear in the areas of trauma psychology, burnout research, and the emerging field of eco-anxiety studies.
As an educator, Professor Boudoukha teaches Clinical Psychology, Psychopathology, Psychiatry, and Psychotherapy. He has developed educational resources including the book 'Les 22 grandes notions de la psychologie clinique et de la psychopathologie' (22 Key Concepts of Clinical Psychology and Psychopathology), which serves as a foundational text for students in the field.
His clinical expertise includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and he works as a Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapist, and Supervisor.
