Abby Fraade is a Clinical and Community Psychology Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. She provides clinical services at the Substance Use and Addiction Treatment Unit and the West Haven Mental Health Clinic's Child and Adolescent Services. Her research focuses on embodied empathy in psychotherapists, supported by an APA Division 29 grant, and trauma treatment integrating heart rate variability biofeedback.
Education: BA in Environmental Studies from Brandeis University (2009), MA in Psychology from Long Island University, Brooklyn, and currently pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology there.
Research interests include psychotherapy common factors, trauma treatment methodologies, and relational psychodynamic approaches. Clinical expertise spans residential treatment facilities, college counseling centers, and Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital.
Her therapeutic approach integrates relational psychodynamic theory with cognitive-behavioral techniques, emphasizing patient uniqueness and recovery through insight and attunement.
