Abbie Lyn Lyden is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the College of Pharmacy, Rosalind Franklin University, and serves as Lead Interprofessional Faculty at the DeWitt C. Baldwin Institute, where she develops standardized patient simulations and interprofessional education initiatives.
Her educational background includes:
- PharmD from Purdue University School of Pharmacy (2006)
- Residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts
Dr. Lyden's research focuses on emergency medicine, critical care, and toxicology, with emphasis on reducing medication errors in acute care settings. She pioneers innovative teaching pedagogies and curricular frameworks to advance interprofessional clinical training, particularly through simulation-based education at the DeWitt C. Baldwin Institute.
As the inaugural Postgraduate Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, she has trained numerous residents and students while serving on hospital, university, and national committees to enhance pharmacy practice standards. Her leadership established foundational pharmacy services in emergency departments at major academic medical centers.
Through the DeWitt C. Baldwin Institute, Dr. Lyden coordinates cross-disciplinary simulation teams that prepare healthcare students for collaborative practice, building on her 15+ years of direct patient care experience in high-acuity emergency settings at Brigham and Women's and Northwestern Memorial Hospitals.
