Abbi Kenny

Abbi Kenny is a Lecturer in the Painting and Drawing program at Purchase College’s School of Art+Design. She holds an MFA in painting from Boston University (2024) and a BFA with honors from the Rhode Island School of Design (2020), where she participated in the European Honors Program in Rome.

Her artistic practice focuses on alchemical exploration of acrylic paint through techniques like pouring, stenciling, airbrushing, and sanding. Her work thematically engages with family recipes, dining scenes, and kitchenscapes, often blending personal and regional specificity with material experimentation.

Recent exhibitions feature works such as Woodman’s II: A Hand, A Man, and A Lobster Roll (2025) and Seeking Direction? (How to: New England Clam Chowder) (2025), showcasing her use of unconventional materials like glitter, glass beads, and natural elements. Key trends include culinary symbolism, automotive heritage, and genealogical storytelling.
