Dr. Abani Pradhan is a Professor and Director of the Graduate Program in Nutrition and Food Science at the University of Maryland's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. He leads the Center for Food Safety and Security Systems and advises student organizations like the Food Science Club and the Graduate Student Organization. His expertise spans food safety, microbial risk assessment, and AI-driven analytics. Educated at institutions including Cornell University and Indian Institute of Technology, he holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Food Engineering.
Research focuses on foodborne pathogens (e.g., Listeria, Salmonella), predictive microbiology, and integrating genomics with risk assessment. He teaches courses like Food Safety Risk Assessment and Food Quality Control.
