Dr. Aaron Poppleton is a Wellcome Trust-funded PhD student in Primary Care at Keele University's Institute of Global Health, with an honorary clinical research fellowship at the University of Manchester. His work focuses on primary care mental health, global health, and cross-cultural healthcare access, particularly for marginalized communities like Central and Eastern Europeans. He holds a MBChB from the University of Manchester (2011), an MSc in Clinical Research (University of Central Lancashire, 2018, Distinction), and an MPH in Global Public Health (University of Manchester, 2021, Distinction). His current CLARENCE project investigates culturally adapted mental healthcare for UK-based Central and Eastern European communities. He chairs the Vasco da Gama Forum’s Scientific Committee and is active in global primary care initiatives, including the UK-CEE Health Forum. His research spans transnational healthcare utilization, point-of-care ultrasound integration, and competency development in primary care training. Poppleton has contributed to over 40 peer-reviewed articles, focusing on migration health, crisis medicine, and healthcare equity. He has received NIHR and Wellcome Trust funding and serves on committees addressing global health education and primary care innovation.
