Dr. Aaron P. Boesenecker is a faculty member at American University's School of International Service (SIS), where he has taught since 2009. He serves as the Undergraduate Research Coordinator and was SIS Faculty President (2019-2020). He teaches across undergraduate, online MA in International Relations, and PhD programs, advising students on prestigious scholarships like the Fulbright and Boren. In 2017, he received the F. Gunther Eyck Award for excellence in teaching and student service. Prior to SIS, he taught at Georgetown University and worked in community planning.
His research explores European politics, comparative political economy, religion in conflict resolution, and social policy reform. Current projects analyze religion's role in post-conflict societies and policy developments in Europe/US. Funded by the Max-Planck Society, American Consortium for EU Studies, and Georgetown University.
Publications focus on transitional justice mechanisms, European governance, and religious actors in peacebuilding, utilizing qualitative methodologies and cross-disciplinary approaches.
