Dr. Aaron Kipp is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health at East Carolina University. He holds a BS in Environmental Health from Colorado State University, an MSPH in Epidemiology (2006) and PhD in Epidemiology (2009) from the University of North Carolina. Prior to joining ECU, he served for 10 years as foundational faculty in Vanderbilt University's doctoral epidemiology program where he taught epidemiologic methods.
His research examines social and behavioral barriers to healthcare for marginalized populations, with focus areas including:
- Measurement and impact of HIV/TB stigma on treatment adherence
- Marijuana use motivations and HIV care retention outcomes
- Community-based interventions for COVID-19 prevention and testing
- Healthcare access disparities in infectious disease management
Professional experience includes infectious disease work at the Colorado Department of Public Health and CDC surveillance projects for West Nile Virus.
