Aaron David Abraham Shakow

Dr. Aaron Shakow is Lecturer in Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School, with expertise in health equity and infectious disease policy. Former director of the Harvard-Dubai Center's Initiative on Healing and Humanity (2017-2021), his work integrates social sciences with frontline health delivery.

His research examines accountability in global health systems, democratic governance of health institutions, and human rights-based approaches to disease control. Shakow co-edited 'Privilege and Impunity: The Struggle for Accountability in Global Health' and is preparing 'Bait and Switch: Democracy Versus Global Health' with Dr. Salmaan Keshavjee.

Previously, Shakow contributed to WHO's '3 x 5' HIV treatment initiative as a Partners In Health policy adviser and edited 'Health and Human Rights' journal.
