ALFONSO DAVID RODRIGUEZ LAZARO

Dr. Alfonso David Rodríguez Lázaro is an Associate Professor of Microbiology at the University of Burgos (Spain), leading the Excellence Research Unit in 'One Health' Microbiology. He holds a DVM, MSc in Food Science, PhD in Molecular Microbiology, and a diploma in Public Health from the National School of Health. With expertise in foodborne pathogens and antibiotic resistance ecology, he develops quantitative detection strategies for pathogens in food and environmental samples.

His research spans environmental and food virology, including wastewater-based epidemiology for SARS-CoV-2 and enteric viruses. He has participated in EU-funded projects (PROMISE, BASELINE, VITAL) and supervises PhD students in Food Microbiology. As Editor-in-Chief of Food Analytical Methods, he contributes to advancing detection protocols. Awards include the 2013 XV Jaime Ferrán Award for scientific career in Microbiology.
