ALEXANDRA ISABEL CRUCHINHO BARREIROS

Alexandra Isabel Cruchincho Barreiros is a Researcher at the CICANT Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture, and New Technologies, affiliated with the Faculty of Communication, Architecture, Arts and Information Technologies (FCAATI) at the University of Porto. Her work intersects fashion design, cultural studies, and sustainability, with a focus on Portuguese creative industries. She holds leadership roles in academic publishing, serving as an editorial contributor to International Journal of Film and Media Arts.

Her research explores themes such as androgyny in fashion, the intersection of fashion with performance and media art, and sustainable practices in creative industries. Notable projects include the FL_Fashion & Sustainability International Conference anthology (2025) and collaborative research on transnational artistic mediums. She has contributed to 15 peer-reviewed publications since 2013, with recent work emphasizing cultural identity and innovation in fashion systems.

Barreiros leads the Decadence for doctoral studies project (2023) as Co-Principal Investigator and participates in the FACT research initiative (2024–2025), focusing on sociocultural dimensions of artistic expression. Her research network spans European and international collaborations, reflecting her commitment to interdisciplinary and transnational studies in creative fields.
