AG Wessler

AG Wessler leads the research group Microbial Infection and Cancer at the University of Salzburg's Department of Biosciences and Medical Biology, part of the Faculty of Natural and Life Sciences. Their work focuses on cellular signal transduction pathways disrupted by bacterial pathogens like Helicobacter pylori, Campylobacter jejuni, and Listeria monocytogenes, linking these mechanisms to cancer progression and epithelial barrier dysfunction.

Current projects include studying bacterial HtrA proteases in epithelial disruption and pollen-borne bacteria's impact on cellular integrity. The lab offers Master's thesis opportunities in molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry.
