Dr. AC Davidson (they/she) is a Lecturer in Human Geography at the School of Geography and Planning, University of Sheffield. Previously serving as Lecturer (2018) and Senior Lecturer (2021) at the University of Huddersfield, their research centers on social justice-sustainability intersections through feminist and queer theoretical lenses, examining body-environment relations and ethical knowledge production.
Education background:
- PhD in Geography, University of Oxford (2018)
- Master of Environmental Studies, SUNY-ESF (Fulbright Scholarship)
- MA(Hons) in Sociology and Politics, University of Edinburgh
Current research spans three interconnected strands: (1) embodiment and queering social reproduction in truck driving (ESRC-funded Trucking Lives project with Newcastle/Oxford); (2) interdisciplinary Geoethics in mining contexts (British Academy collaboration across four institutions); and (3) equity in geoscience education (NERC-funded GAIA project). This work critically challenges normative frameworks through feminist and queer perspectives on mobility, embodiment, and environmental justice.
Publication trends reveal consistent innovation in critical human geography, with recent works exploring queer identities during lockdowns, gendered transportation labor, and radical mobility paradigms. Their scholarship bridges theoretical depth with empirical richness through multi-method qualitative approaches across geography, gender studies, and sociology.
Scientific recognition:
- Fulbright Scholarship
Secured major funding including ESRC for Trucking Lives, British Academy for Geoethics, and NERC for GAIA. Supervises human geography students with focus on qualitative methods and social justice, though specific advisees aren't documented in source material.
Collaborates internationally through Trucking Lives (Newcastle/Oxford), Geoethics (Huddersfield/UCL/Witwatersrand/Otago), and GAIA initiatives, building transnational networks addressing environmental justice and inclusive knowledge production.
