Dr. A. K. M. Adam is a Tutor in New Testament and Greek at Oriel College, University of Oxford, and holds concurrent roles as College Lecturer in Theology at Oriel College and Lecturer in New Testament at Regent’s Park College. He has held academic positions at Eckerd College, Princeton Theological Seminary, Seabury Western Theological Seminary, Duke University, and the University of Glasgow, progressing from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor and Visiting Professorships. His academic background includes a B.A. in Philosophy from Bowdoin College, an M.Div. and S.T.M. from Yale University, and a Ph.D. from Duke University.
Adam’s research focuses on the Epistle of James, Gospel of Matthew, and broader hermeneutical frameworks. He explores the intersection of critical theory with historical interpretation, the Judaic and Hellenistic contexts of the New Testament, and the Secret Gospel of Mark. His work bridges ancient textual analysis with modern interdisciplinary methods, including cultural and sensory dimensions of interpretation.
He serves as an editorial board member for the Biblical Interpretation Series (Brill). His publications span books, journal articles, and chapters addressing hermeneutics, historical theology, and the cultural reception of biblical texts. His teaching spans undergraduate and graduate levels, emphasizing critical engagement with New Testament texts across theological and historical frameworks.
