A. Everette James is the M. Allen Pond Professor of Health Policy and Management and Associate Vice Chancellor for Health Policy and Planning at the University of Pittsburgh, and Director of the Health Policy Institute (HPI). Previously, he served as Pennsylvania Secretary of Health, leading the negotiation and implementation of Pennsylvania's first Clean Indoor Air Act, which has saved thousands of lives by prohibiting smoking in enclosed public spaces.
His educational background includes:

He directs the Medicaid Research Center (MRC), conducting groundbreaking research for 3 million Pennsylvanians and 71.2 million nationally, and founded the Healthy Home Lab (HHL) whose interdisciplinary team patented mobility devices for bathroom and stair-climbing safety to enhance older adult independence.
