A. Baha Balantekin is the Eugene P. Wigner Professor of Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an Affiliate Professor at the University of Washington. He holds a Ph.D. from Yale University (1982). His research focuses on theoretical physics at the intersection of nuclear, particle, and astrophysics, with expertise in neutrino physics and mathematical physics.
- Current Positions: Wigner Professor (UW-Madison, 2004–present), Affiliate Professor (UW-Seattle, 2004–present).
- Past Positions: Includes Wigner Fellow at Oak Ridge National Lab (1984–1986), senior academic roles at UW-Madison since 1986, and visiting roles at institutions like Tohoku University and Max Planck Institute.
He is a Fellow of both the Institute of Physics and the American Physical Society. Notable awards include the NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award (1987) and the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation Mid-Career Award (1997). He has served in leadership roles such as Chair of the APS Division of Nuclear Physics and on editorial boards of journals like Journal of Physics G.
