Özkan Desen is an Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut (UConn), with a PhD in Engineering Education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (2020) and a B.S. in Chemical & Biological Engineering from Tufts University (2013). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Tufts' Center for Engineering Education & Outreach (2020–2023). His research focuses on sociotechnical engineering education, equity in STEM, and offshore wind energy. Key interests include justice, inclusivity, and diversity in engineering workforces, as well as sustainable energy development.
