Özlem Muraz Budak is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Turkish and Social Sciences Education, Nizip Faculty of Education, Gaziantep University. Her research focuses on Modern and Ottoman History, Social History, and City History. She holds a PhD in History from Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University (2017), a Master's in Modern Age History from Niğde University (2010), and a BA in History from Niğde University (2007).
Her scholarly work examines late Ottoman judicial systems, gender dynamics in historical contexts, economic and social structures, and urban developments. She has authored 11 book chapters and 12 peer-reviewed journal articles, with a particular emphasis on Ottoman court records, taxation practices, and educational institutions.
At Gaziantep University, she teaches courses such as 'Ottoman History and Civilization,' 'Drama in Social Studies Education,' and 'Career Planning,' while also supervising the master's thesis of Muhammet Seçkin (2022) on distance education experiences. She serves as Deputy Head of Department since 2023.
