Åsa’s work operationalizes the Social-Ecological Urbanism (SEU) framework to analyze how urban densification, property rights, and land-use policies affect access to health-related cultural ecosystem services (CES). She emphasizes multi-scale interactions, nature-based solutions, and equitable urban development.
Her 15 most recent publications (2017–2025) span urban resilience, climate adaptation, green space accessibility, and Arctic marine governance. Key themes include flood protection, pollinator diversity, X-minute city vision, and the integration of ecological principles into urban design.
Åsa actively investigates the socioeconomic dimensions of ecosystem service access, aiming to address disparities in urban environmental quality. Her research bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications in cities across Sweden, Australia, and Southeast Asia.
