Katrina Grant is a Lecturer in Digital Humanities at the Australian National University (ANU), affiliated with the Centre for Digital Humanities Research and the Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions (ICEDS). Her research bridges art history, digital technologies, and cultural heritage. Key focuses include Early Modern Italian gardens, theatre architecture, and the application of digital mapping to art historical analysis. She leads projects like Digital Cartographies of the Roman Campagna (integrating historical maps with modern GIS) and GLAM Search Engines and AI (addressing algorithmic bias in cultural heritage databases). Her recent monograph Landscape in Early Modern Italy: Theatre, Gardens and Visual Culture (2022) examines intersections between operatic performance and landscape design. Collaborative work includes projects with ANU's College of Engineering on AI-driven GLAM search tools and pedagogical innovations in digital humanities education. Grant co-founded the Art History Network and serves on the executive of the Art Association of Australia and New Zealand (AAANZ). Her research extends to digital humanities pedagogy, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and public engagement. Current initiatives explore bias mitigation in cultural institution search systems and educational strategies for critical digital literacy in cultural heritage contexts.
