Nicolas Hebbinckuys is an Assistant Professor at the University of Waterloo, focusing on Travel Literature in early New France (16th-17th centuries) and integrating new technologies into French as a Second Language (FSL) instruction. His research explores discourse strategies in travel narratives and representations of American otherness in Renaissance and Ancien Régime texts. Education: PhD in Literary Studies (Université de Moncton, 2015), MA in Comparative Literature (ICES, France, 2006), BA in Modern Letters (ICES France & Université Sainte-Anne Canada, 2004). He develops interactive online course content and conducts language didactic experiments on persistent student errors, feedback mechanisms, and reinvestment. His publications analyze foundational New France texts, climate adaptation in early French expeditions, and literary influences between colonial authors.
