Katherine Stubbs

Katherine Stubbs is the Lee Family Associate Professor of English at Colby College, specializing in American literature and cultural studies. Her research spans 18th-, 19th-, and early 20th-century texts, with a focus on marginalized voices in working-class, ethnic, and feminist discourses.

Her scholarly work interrogates intersections of technology, labor, and identity through feminist theory and cultural analysis. She has edited Anzia Yezierska’s Arrogant Beggar and curated thematic issues on labor and subjectivity.

Recent publications explore telegraphy’s influence on narrative forms, material culture in immigrant literature, and gender dynamics in industrial economies. Her writing appears in journals like New Media, 1750-1925, MELUS, and differences, alongside entries in the Oxford Companion to Women’s Writing in the United States.
