Joanne Kathryn Roberts is the third President and Professor of Economics at Yale-NUS College. She previously served as Executive Vice President (Academic Affairs) from 2018–2022, overseeing academic and student programming. Her research focuses on public economics, particularly tax policy, charitable giving, and legal institutions. She holds a PhD from Queen’s University (Canada) and has held faculty positions at the University of Toronto, University of Calgary, and Yale-NUS. She is also set to become Vice President (Humanities and Social Sciences Research) at the National University of Singapore starting January 2025. She has contributed to understanding complementarities between public and private protection mechanisms, optimal tax policy design, and parole decision-making dynamics.
