Professor
Amanda Bayley is Professor of Music at Bath Spa University, leading the interdisciplinary research group Intercultural Communication through Practice . Her work spans intercultural music collaboration, performance analysis, and the intersection of music with ecology. She holds a PhD from the University of Reading and has been Co-Investigator on ERC-funded projects like Beyond East and West (2015-2023) and Interactive Research in Music as Sound (2017-2023). Recent projects include the ESRC/AHRC-funded Ecotones: Soundscapes of Trees (2022-23) and NERC-supported Hear Water , exploring environmental empathy through sound. She has received the Ruth A. Solie Award (2011) for her book Recorded Music: Performance, Culture, and Technology .
